FAQ
FAQ
What conditions must I meet to drive a car?
Your driver’s license valid for at least 5 years, proof of identity and address, and a deposit of between €2,000 and €3,000 depending on the vehicle you choose.
Can I change or cancel my reservation?
For car rentals, the provisions of article L. 221-28 of the French Consumer Code stipulate that the renter has no right of withdrawal. However, Retro Location Insulaire offers its customers the right to cancel all reservations up to one month before the rental takes effect.
In this case, the deposit will not be refunded.
We offer a credit note for the amount paid, valid for one year.
For cancellations received less than one month before the start of the rental period, the full amount is due.
Reservation changes do not incur additional charges.
What documents do I need to rent a car?
On the day you pick up your car, you will be asked for a driving licence valid for more than 1 year.
You will also need to show a valid form of identification: identity card or passport.
To pay for the hire and the deposit, please bring a credit card or cheque (in case your credit card doesn’t work).
Now you’re ready to hire your vintage vehicle and start your roadtrip around Corsica!
How and when can we contact you?
For all enquiries concerning vehicle hire, you can contact us by e-mail or telephone at the following opening times. Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm in low season, 7 days a week from 9am to 8pm in high season. For customers with a current vehicle rental, a customer assistance service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Where and when can I collect/return my vehicle?
We are committed to offering our customers the greatest possible comfort.
For this reason, we try as far as possible to adapt to boat and flight schedules, which are sometimes late at the height of the season, and to our customers’ constraints.
For the Porto Vecchio, Bonifacio and Figari region, we can discuss with you the possibility of collecting your vehicle from somewhere other than our car hire agency, but from your hotel or place of residence … and outside our agency’s opening hours.
To do this, please let us know in advance and let us know the address where you would like your vehicle to be delivered or collected and the time you would like it to be picked up.
Additional charges will be calculated according to the distance travelled between our agency and the chosen location.
Do I need to insure my vehicle myself?
No, to ensure that you have as few constraints as possible, you don’t need to take out insurance or transfer your insurance. Our rental service includes insurance in all the car rental services it offers.
You benefit from ‘all risks’ insurance, with a moderate excess. For details of cover and benefits, please refer to the rental, insurance and assistance contracts.
How many people can drive my rental car?
It is entirely possible to have several drivers authorised to drive your hire car, at no extra cost.
Additional drivers must be registered on the rental contract and meet the rental conditions: a valid driving licence and identity document.
Are these vintage cars difficult to drive?
Contrary to popular belief, driving a classic car is no more complicated than driving a modern car. The handling is different, and classic cars don’t have all the automatisms of today’s cars, but above all it’s about adopting a different, more vintage driving style, where you can rediscover all the sensations that driving these vehicles has to offer. Whatever the case, whether you’re an expert or a novice in driving this type of car, we’ll be with you when you hire for a debriefing and handover on the road with us. This will enable you to get to know your hire car in great detail. You’ll be able to ask all your questions and get to know your vehicle in real-life situations.
What is the maximum speed of this type of vehicle?
Each model of car has its own capacity, with a minimum speed of 90 km/h, but all are fast enough to take full advantage of Corsica’s magnificent landscapes. Drive to your heart’s content, taking into account the island’s famously winding roads and the cows, goats and wild boar that sometimes cross without warning… Welcome to Corsica!
What fuel and consumption levels are required for this type of vehicle?
Depending on the model of car you choose to hire, the fuel will vary, so please consult the detailed specifications for each vehicle.
Similarly, fuel consumption varies from model to model, depending on their technical characteristics, mainly power and weight, but also on your driving style.
We’ll be happy to advise you on the rental vehicle that best suits your needs.
